One of Tofurky’s most memorable holiday campaigns embraced the lighthearted chaos of white elephant gift exchanges (or “Yankee Swap” for my East Coast friends).
For this campaign, I saw an opportunity to lean into the fun, quirky spirit of gift-giving while spreading Tofurky love in a playful way. I ideated creative (albeit a bit hokey) items, designed them from scratch, and collaborated with our marketing team to bring them to life. The goal? Create fandom-worthy gifts that were funky, fun, and perfect for stealing the spotlight at any gift swap—while extending Tofurky’s reach further than ever.
2023 - Marked the debut of our White Elephant holiday effort, and we went big. We packed a treasure trove of hilarious and wow-worthy gifts that turned gag gifts into pure gold. Picture this: a vintage-inspired "spirit animal" shirt featuring wolves howling at a Tofurky Roast moon—straight out of 1985. We threw in a super-cool grilling apron, fancy Croc charms to flaunt your fandom in sport mode, and a giant pepperoni pizza blanket to celebrate the epic launch of Tofurky's Pepp'roni. And for the pièce de résistance? A Tofurky Roast-scented candle—because who wouldn’t want their home to smell like plant-based perfection?
2024 – Year two of the White Elephant campaign built on the wins from the first year and took things to a whole new level. Those quirky little beige baubles—aka the Tofurky Roast ornaments—made a triumphant comeback, delighting fans all over again.
Our “wolves under the Tofurky Roast moon” shirt was such a hit the first year that I couldn’t resist riffing on the idea. Enter: raccoons under a Tofurky moon. Because who doesn’t love a cheeky little nocturnal bandit? Spoiler alert: it was a crowd favorite.
We also introduced a rugged yet plush branded blanket that people absolutely loved. And for the gift-wrap enthusiasts, we added double-sided, branded wrapping paper to the lineup. I created vibrant patterns featuring some of Tofurky’s beloved brand characters, and, of course, it was made from recycled materials—perfect for concealing those mysterious gift swap treasures!
It was a season full of fun, fandom, and a little extra holiday magic.
